Tour de France, Roland-Garros, US Open, 24 H of Le Mans, Solitaire du Figaro, resumption of Ligue 1 … the sports news for September will be new with an ultra-busy calendar.


All football championships and European competitions (Champions League, Europa League) are still unclear regarding a resumption date. If the objective remains to finish the season before the end of the summer and even behind closed doors, the month of September 2020 could be overloaded between the resumption of the Championships, that of the European Cups and the international matches, including the play-offs for Euro 2020 (postponed to 2021) which have not yet been disputed, but also the League of Nations with two matches on the program for the Blues, against Sweden (September 5) and Croatia (September 8).


As in football, the Top 14 and other championships await a decision on the end of the 2019-20 fiscal year. Several scenarios remain under consideration, including playing the final phase from mid-August, with the staff for the 2020-2021 season, and starting the next season in September.


Initially scheduled from May 24 to June 7, Rolland-Garros will be played from September 20 to October 4, 2020. The Parisian meeting will therefore start when the Tour de France arrives in the streets of the capital. The perfect puzzle for the City of Lights but a puzzle for the tennis calendar since the US Open, another Grand Slam tournament, is still being held from August 24 to September 13. The Wimbledon tournament is canceled.


It’s been official since this Wednesday. The Tour de France will take place from August 29 to September 20. The Giro and the Tour of Spain will be contested after the UCI Road World Championships (September 20-27, in Switzerland).


The National Basketball League decided on Wednesday to give up any resumption of Jeep Elite and Pro B before September. The European Cup matches are suspended “until further notice”, according to the organizers.

Regarding the NBA, ESPN announces a deadline for the 2019-20 season for September 7.

Motor sports

Shifted to the weekend of September 19 and 20, The 24h of Le Mans are still officially organized. The Formula 1 season is still unclear for the start of its season and should not start, at best, until June. Several GPs could therefore be postponed until September. Like F1, the Moto GP season is at a standstill. The Grand Prix of France, initially scheduled from 15 to 17 but could be postponed. The organizers think they will be able to communicate before May 15 on the subject.


The famous Boston Marathon, initially scheduled for early April, will take place on Monday September 14, 2020. In addition to that of Berlin (September 27) and the Paris half-marathon (September 6).


Originally scheduled for late summer, the Solitaire du Figaro will complement this insane September program with its four stages and three weeks of racing. Departure of the 51 edition on August 30 from the bay of Saint-Brieuc, arrival around September 20 in Loire Atlantique, in Saint-Nazaire.
